May 18 – The Redwoods and the Coast

Since there was little to do around Lassen, we decided to go on to the coast.  We stayed at Azalea Glen RV park.  Its a quaint and quiet little park – just perfect.  The Rhododendrons are blooming!  I was amazed at the size of the hydrangeas, roses, and other plants.  We took a drive to Big Lagoon and saw Agate Beach. On Friday we went to the Humbolt Marine Lab and Nature Center, then went to Trinity Bay to watch the boats.  Saturday found us finishing up laundry then Philip and I went to Arcata to the Farmers Market. It was so much fun!  There were all varieties of fruits, vegetables, organic meats, crafts, flowers and live music!  The food was fun too – Philip had mashed potatoes and gravy in a waffle cone.  Later he had grilled oysters from another vendor.  Later that afternoon, we went to Prairie Creek Visitors Center to see some more old growth redwoods.
